If Cruise Control is turned on this can increase your risk of hydroplaning because it keeps your car going at a specific speed.
If you do hydroplane, whether Cruise Control is a factor or not, remember the two most important steps when reacting. Do not slam on your brakes. Turn your wheel in the direction the vehicle is spinning. A lot of people’s first reaction when feeling like they are losing control of their vehicle is to slam on the brakes. With hydroplaning you actually want to let off the accelerator slowly without braking. Also remember to turn your wheel in the direction the car is spinning. Turning your wheel in the opposite direction, especially quickly, can make your car flip.
#3 Slow Down
This seems like such an obvious tip, but it is one that many people don’t follow. Everybody is in a rush and we all have places to be. Let’s make sure that we all get there safely. Leave early to give yourself more time on your trip. Slow down and remember it is more important to get where you are going safely than to get there on time.
